Tantra
Tantra is an ancient Sanskrit word that actually means a loom or to weave. I understand it as the weaving of individuals in the communion of love as well as the taking apart of the karmic tapestry of structures and conditioned beliefs through love.
Tantra requires no mind or logic. It is beyond words and symbols. It is about the nothingness that is there when we go beyond the mind-made concept of self.
Yoga and Tantra are complimentary. Yoga can prepare you for Tantra. Tantra is about flow and letting go. It is about dropping the structures that have confined you. There is no effort required to it. It is about liberation. It is about being yourself, dancing to your own rhythm and singing your own beautiful tune.
It is about fully accepting all the different aspects of yourself. All the colours of the magnificent rainbow. It is about accepting the whole spectrum of who you are. All that you have judged good and bad. It is about not rejecting any single part of you.
Tantra is also about being love (not ‘being in love’ but actually being love itself). Love is not sex. Sex happens when ‘in love’, but sex itself is neither love nor a substitute for it. When you are love, you are not and neither is the other. Both of you disappear. Tantra is the same.
When we look at tantric pictures in books and scriptures, we often see deep intercourse between lovers in a profound orgasmic state. This is symbolic of the final orgasm with the universe. A oneness with everything.
Can we get to this place of ultimate oneness?
The beauty of tantra is that you are already there. There is no path.
It is enough to relax and not move anywhere with your energy. Neither the future, nor the past. You simply stay in the inner stillness of this present moment, in your innermost centre, in your totality. In this silence, you hear your inner voice, you feel it and move guided by this feeling.
You see the totality, the big picture, and feel the oneness that you are. You feel the orgasm of your whole body, with somebody or with no body at all, and you have no attachment to it, one way or the other.
With deepest love
